Roeder to stick with his loan plan

Wales Under-21 striker Ched Evans scored 10 goals in 20 starts for Norwich City during his loan spell from Manchester City.

Glenn Roeder has defended his liberal use of the loan system as he prepares to beg, steal and borrow again this summer. The Canaries manager signed 10 players during his first six months at Carrow Road - and could start the new season with as many as five more on the books.

Norwich City defender Gary Doherty admitted he is still some way from agreeing a new contract which would see him at Carrow Road next season. The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international is out of contract next month and with City boss Glenn Roeder having already released nine of his first team squad, he can ill afford to lose anyone else.
