norfolk is a race now? I know racism is everywhere but I find it very worrying that there are so many "get them out" views from an area where there are very few of "them" anyway. It stinks of people having zero personal experience of the matter so turning to tabloid trash to form an opinion. If this is you then sorry, but you are a moron. FACT.

The process that Arthur's thinking conveys:
- Arthur would like a 40 foot fence put up around the UK as soon as possible ( no expense spared ) that will keep those foreigners out.
- Upon completion the Arthurs of the world rub their hands with glee.
- Year 1 - Domestic wages start to increase significantly. Arthur's business ( and every other business ) just pass these increases on to the general public. This is working out pretty well thinks Arthur and all the little workers.
- Year 2 - Productivity is down because costs are up but output is down. Not my problem says Arthur and lots of the little workers. By the way we need to get out for holiday in the Spanish sun. We'll ask the the government to cut some holes in that big fence so that we can get out. The government is good at loop holes. Unfortunately, vacationers come back to the UK complaining that their sterling didn't buy half as much in Spain as it did the year before.
- Year 3 - The UK fence is falling into disrepair because the cost of maintaining it with British wages is too high. typically, key decision makers in the government hire members of their extended families at exhorbitant wage levels to patch things up. The government deficit climbs and sterling falls even further. Arthur and the little workers see their benefits being squeezed and tell anyone that will listen that this government needs to be put out to pasture.
- Year 4 - Productivity squeezes intensify and Arthur's business goes bust because he can't afford to pay the wage levels that accompanied inflation.
- Year 5 - Arthur is spotted spending his days meditating on Mousehold Heath, one hand on his chin and scratching his bum with the other, wondering what happened and who to blame.
Got to be the board hasn't it?

Oh and i take you've lived in inner city London or Bradford or Blackburn,Oldham,Birmingham ect ect? I've got a business property in Hungary mate and they seem to be doing ok out there. Believe me if you ask even the legal immigrants in some of our larger cities they would tell you its just not working when you open the gates to every Tom, Dick and Mohammad! If like you suggest you've seen it with your own eyes, then please tell me the benefits of an open house policy? Immigrants DO help this country. We had a negative and ageing population before the recent influx and legal immigrants have changed that and will secure a better and healthier future, also our fine City was built on the Dutch and French Huguenot's woolen industries so its great when they contribute and integrate, but sneaking in unaccounted for is just plain wrong. It causes crime, squalor and bad feeling...nothing more.

Hang on a minute Arthur, yesterday you said this -
"I dont care wheteher someones black brown or yellow as long as they are english and can do a job."
So what's it to be .
Oh, and why are you still banging on about illegal immigrants when this case is about somebody who was seeking asylum?
"The ball is round. The game lasts ninety minutes. This much is fact. Everything else is pure theory."

Have you ever thought that most asylum seekers should stay home and help forge the destinies of their own countries.
That's how many great nations and peoples were formed - by eventually sorting out a way to live together in reasonable harmony and diversity. The process may be tough, but the end result is more than worthwhile.
One love.

it's very easy for you to say that sitting in your safe european home not so easy when you are in danger of having your hands chopped off or seeing your 8 year old son forced to be a soldier. do you have any comprehension of the conditions in sierra leone!!!!

So what's your solution, Say Hello To The Angels?
Should the western, civilised world house the rest of the worlds unfortunates? ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/cs/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)
|

what makes us so civilised i put it to you that a nation that sends people back to a regime of possible torture and death is far from civilised!
also i never claimed to have all the answers i just felt that a fellow posters views lacked any real compassion or understanding of the situation.
perhaps if we as a people did a bit more to help these 'unfortunates' they may stand a fighting chance of improving thier lot in thier own land as it is thier chnaces of a better life are about the same as norwich winning the champions league the season after next!

If WE did more to help!! Are you serious?
The British taxpayer funds organisations such as the UN & the EU to the tune of billions of pounds -- if, like myself, you think Britains foreign aid is often going to the wrong countries and/or to corrupt leaders (such as President Mugabe of Zimbabwe who receives 44 million quid yearly from Britain alone) then get yourself into government and make your voice heard.
But don't sit there whining on to me about how little we in the west do.
British, tax-paying individuals, are more than doing their bit sunshine - most of 'em reluctantly.

This is mainly for Arthur but it may also be of interest of some of you others that have a bit of a bee in your bonnet about 'illegal' immigrants.
Illegal immigrants aren't just one big, dark-skinned bogey man. There are all sorts of reasons why people arrive/stay here illegally.
The most recent gov't estimate is that there are 500,000 'undocumented' immigrants in the UK at the moment - this estimate is disputed by both pro and anti immigration groups because the government has no real way of counting these people. But that doesn't stop the tabloids talking in terms of millions.....
About 25% of these are people from the current and former commonwealth (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA etc) who were given visas to come and study or work here for a short period and who remain here after their visas have expired. These people continue to work wherever they worked before - but get paid cash in hand. So a large proportion of illegal immigrants are in fact white people from countries that historically the UK has close links with. Not yer stereotype of an illegal immigrant.
So that leaves the other 75% (350,000+) to consider. The first thing to make absolutely clear is that these people are not scrounging anything - they have absolutely no access to the most important public services - housing or healthcare. Their children can't even go to school.
Tens of thousands of these people will have been trafficked here against their will or are prevented from returning home by traffickers. Just to make it clear, I'm not talking just about prostitution - food processing, agriculture, care of the elderly all benefit from the exploitation of these people. A recent estimate suggests that more than 10% of UK businesses benefit from the use of undocumented workers...
And then you've got a large number of asylum seekers who have been refused asylum by the government and have gone underground for whatever reason. From my experience, I'd argue that the vast majority of failed asylum seekers should have been granted asylum judged if the government actually abided by its own rules.
For example, I've worked with a number of Zimbabweans who've been persecuted for their opposition to Mugabe. Believe it or not, the gov't is continually trying to claim that Zimbabwe is a safe country so that *anyone* who comes from there is automatically regarded as having a dubious claim. It's a very similar situation for people from Iraq - for political reasons the gov't is trying to say that it is safe to return failed asylum seekers there.
In my view, the most sensible thing to do would be to grant an amnesty to everyone who is here illegally and start again. The vast majority of 'illegals' would make themselves known and then you'd be left with only the criminals to pursue.

Is giving somebody the racist tag for having alternative views to yours all you have on the issue of an overcrowded Britain? Seriously - if 30 million extra terrestials from another planet arrived in England today, would you think me a racist for saying they really ought to be dispersed into less populated countries?
Also, where do you get off on slating people for gathering their information from the tabloids when you offer nothing in the way of a solution to the obvious problems that mass immigration IS causing in this country?
"but you are a moron. FACT"
Why do Leftists like yourself nearly always resort to rage & abuse? I'll answer that for you actually - it's a substitute for an appeal to FACTS and reason?
Now go hug a tree -- preferably a falling one.
