Mackintosh
Even after living in Australia since 1977, I still have fond memories of various games played with Eaton Wanderers (RIP), Mackintosh (RIP), Taverham, Mile Cross and my only Saturday side, St Johns.
My allegiance to St Johns though remains steadfast and you could not wish to play for a better club.
Throughout my 200+ games with the Saints I saw many players come and go but without doubt, the longevity of the club and the fact that it is probably one of the oldest clubs in the city, is due to the unwavering dedication of their secretary, Tony Franklin. He had his 25th anniversary when I was playing so has now gone beyond 50 years with one club. What a contribution he has made to the community in terms of providing an opportunity for hundreds of teenagers to participate in the game.
I can relate to many games, a few clubs and a whole lot of names, but I find it hard to go past Tony. If I wore a hat, I'd take it off to him.
My best regards to all my old team mates. Thanks for the memories guys.
Kevin Marten
