We had a very poor manager incharge at the time who was bringing inferior players into the team and replaced Earnie with a vastly inferior player. I'd love to see him back, he's extremely prolific at this level and I'm keen for Norwich to be successful which means we need better quality players than what we've got. the clause ditacted he wouldn't.. as soon as someone offered the money the club would of had to accept. jas :)

If players have value clauses like Earnshaw it means that they have to be notified when a bid of that amount or more comes in. What is strange is how some of these other clubs seems to get that amount spot on considering it should be confidential information. When that bid comes in the club inform the player and the player then has the choice of whether to enter talks with the interested parties - not the club as it is in the usual circumstances. The sad thing is every footballer may as well have one because if they want to go then there really is no stopping them. The club ends up paying good wages for a player who isn't all there as with Damien Francis who's heart was out of the fight a long time before the season came to an end in the Prem.
The reason the clubs get the information as to what constitutes a "release clause" is a person called Agent.
That is their job and living.
If I have an exclusive and marketable story it will go to the highest bidder. I don't give a s**t whether that is the Sunday Times or the News of the World and I have one coming up which could be a competition between both.
I'm afraid they will just have to battle it out. As a seller I just await the result and supply accordingly.
Premier League relegation battle with Derby or Championship relegation battle with Norwich? - O.J.
I didn't know Derby was IN a relegation battle. Doesn't "battle" insinuate competition? Ha ha, I get your point. I just had to be a smart azz.
