Re: 15 year comparative info on Norwich & Ipswich

It's not our club walfy.

It's Delia's club.

Learn that.

Now off to bed, it's late.

Thats the thing though-it is Delia's club isn't it? Certainly more so than mine or yours, I fill my car up every week at Esso but that doesn't make Esso "my" business!

The days of going to games, buying a season ticket etc etc and saying "I pay the players wages" are long gone. We don't. Football is a business and we are seen as the "lucky ones" (!?) who pay to see what the business chooses to display, good, bad, or otherwise. As fans, we have few "rights" and no claim to "ownership", other than if we have a few shares. I have some but nowhere near enough to give me a say in anything other than votes on issues which I mostly disagree with anyway.

Even if a club ends up being taken over by a consortium of fans, the status quo would remain the same. Those that weren't part of it would have no say or claim to anything. Its like the old story of a countries free loading Emperor and his family being turfed away and out of their life of decandent living by a revolutionary force who take over, and, themselves in time, are thrown out of their life of decadence etc by another revolutionary force-and so it goes on.

We can bang on and on and on about it being "our club" but it isn't seen as such and no-one is ever going to take that argument into consideration when it comes to club issues and policy. Sure, we can bote with our feet and stay away but what difference would it ever make, its not as if everyone would unite so much that there are suddenly only 10, 11'000 at home games, that will never happen. Its a shame and I hate it, but thats how football has gone and it includes Norwich.

FC Norwich of Norfolk anyone?

I have a lot of sympathy with your frustration Old Shuck but to say that fans of any football club have no say at all in the future of the club is taking things a bit far.  I know that the Wimbledon experience shows how things can go wrong with ownership of a club but in general there are very few, if any managers who can withstand the wrath of the majority of fans for very long.  More importantly, and this is the real point, very few boards of directors can either!  If the majority of fans turn against a board the chances are that a change will be made.  It may take a year or two but very few boards (including our own under Chase) can withstand the wrath of the fans indefinitely.

Your point about Esso is well made and if you took your business elsewhere nothing would happen, but if everyone stopped using Esso (or Ratners Jewlers if you want a better analogy) things would change pretty damn fast!

Nil Desporandum old friend!

" Ralph Wright demonstrates his intimate knowledge of the Binners finances once again."

yep, took me about ten seconds to type in the question on Goggle - far less time than a troll takes to set up another name

odd that Bly hasn't defended his false figues or explained why his posts seem to feature either attacks on us or comparisons with the paupers down the road

possibly not that odd though

Fair point and well made. I do wonder sometimes-and I am not so reactionary as some of our posters, admittedly-quite what it would take, if anything (and thats scary-perhaps there is no line for the board to cross?) for the supporters of the club to genuinely and, as one, display a united and very real protest that would be taken note of. And would "taken note of" equate to "action taken" -you do wonder!

Re: 15 year comparative info on Norwich & Ipswich
There are two sets of figures.

The ones you posted up and the ones provided by ipswich town fc.

You repeatedly fail to tell us which set is accurate.

So, whose figures are correct, your claim of an turnover of £10m in 2005/6 or the pauper's official accounts stating £16.4m.

let me remind you that with any claim, and I suggest more noticably attacks on our club on a City forum, the onus is on those making the claims. So please tell us, which figures are correct ?
