Further to the alleged, fraud and corruption story about Brady, that seems like nothing compared to this from a national newspaper.
Steven Gerrard's father yesterday told how a notorious gangster threatened to shoot the Liverpool captain in the legs and maim him.
Paul Gerrard recruited underworld "fixer" John Kinsella to "sort out" George Bromley Jnr - known as Psycho - after a two-year campaign of terror.
In a letter read to a jury at a robbery trial, Paul described the "total respect" he and 27-year-old Steven have for Kinsella.
The court heard the England international was placed under police protection because the thug was "making his life a misery". He had even ambushed the footballer outside his flat in Southport, Merseyside.
Mr Gerrard wrote: "I would like to say that, in 2001, my son Steven was being terror-ised by a notorious Liverpool gangster known as 'The Psycho', who was threatening to maim my son by shooting him in the legs. Also, he was trying to extort money from Steven.
John Kinsella was hired by Gerrard to 'warn off' the gangster known as 'Psycho'
"We immediately contacted the police and asked for protection. This went on for a long time, during which Steven's car was smashed up and the gangster chased him while he was driving home from training.
"This was one of the worst times of our lives. It was really having a bad effect on his career. Liverpool FC provided security for Steven, but the threats still kept coming.
"We were at our wits' end when we were introduced by a family friend to John Kinsella. I told him about the ongoing threats and violence. John then reassured me and my family he would resolve our nightmare.
"From that time until this day, we have never had any more problems from the Liverpool underworld. Steven and I have total respect for John for what he did for us. Yours faithfully, Paul Gerrard."
Giving evidence, Kinsella said he was contacted by the star's family after Gerrard was threatened by Bromley.
He said: "I took steps. I spoke to George Bromley Jnr. I told him to stop it and leave him alone. After I had spoken to him, he followed my advice."
Kinsella, a boxer and martial arts expert, said his work for Gerrard was just one example of how he collected debts and sorted out problems for people.

Why do you turn up all the time replying to threads you don't care about.
The mods approved it, it's reasonably interesting but nobody's forcing you to read it. What's your problem?
Polar wrote:why do you turn up all the time with threads no one really cares about?btw you missed one about Gary Nevilles dad a few weeks back.
Why don't you p.off, everyone is welcome on here.
Interesting story Andy. That Kinsella must be one double hard bloke born to unmarried parents. I like the bit when he says 'I spoke to him, he decided to take my advice'.
I was interested. At least he isn't as bad as that idiot prattling on about Wolves all the time...
Sign Kinsella up! We need an "enforcer" at the back!
jas :)
It is not realated in anyway to NCFC and barely about football. So why is it here in a NCFC football forum - Mods, surely, surely this is off-topic and should not even be here to argue about?
