Sorry, but for the life of me, i cannot believe this rubbish about us having no cash. I understand we are in debt, as nearly every other club is, but that is the way football clubs are run, it's the only way to stay competetive. I haven't seen us use the ashton money yet still, earnshaw came and went (no profit or loss if u account for wages). We can't be spending much on wages anyway, what with 15 senior players, and the likes of etuhu and safri and left for significant funds. after we heard we didn't have to sell. Since then, we've had young loan signings and 1 permenant signing of Pattison. With hucks off the wage bill, and a massive sponsership deal signed, and with us constantly getting high attendances, we must have a few million if needed, it's just about finding the players worth the money, that we can attract. i'd multiply that £1.5m figure by 2 or 3.

if Norwich have so much cash...why is the latest news that we have just given 2 more of our youth players pro contracts...thats about 6 youths on pro contracts. He aint doing it to pass the time, he's doing it because he knows how little finace we have. He's even mentioned bringing in 5 loanies at the start...and all this has come about AFTER my thread topic. Which i'm afraid to say looks spot on if you read between the lines.

How is putting the youths on pro deals saving money?, it's not as if he couldn't have just put them on pro deals when needed to save more money. It's probably because they're showing enough potential to one day play a decent role for us or at least make us a bit of money by being sold to league 1 or 2... The thing about the loans too, why spend money for the sake, if there's a cheaper way of getting someone just as good if not better, i.e loaning, not buying, then roeder in my mind is fully right to do that. I'd rather he pooled his funds in for 4-5 perm signings of quality, rather than 8-9 average signings.
I fully believe, if the right player comes along, then roeder will be given funds. A lot of the problem then is fending off interest from elsewhere. I do think at this level though, we will only spend £2m or over on a striker as opposed to a midfeilder or defender, as thats how the prices work. £250k for hoolahan sounds like an absolute coup anyway to shore up the left, and i wouldn't be unhappy if we spent that on a striker who could bang the goals in. Can't see us spending any more than £1m on a centre back or a centre mid though.

So we spend beyond our means and end up with a squad to take us up. Then what, because that same squad would not be sufficient to keep us up. Much better to use loanee's to get us there in the first place.
I agree we need to spend but using loan players to compliment our squad makes perfect sense to me.

If what i'm hearing and reading are to be believed...Norwich is going to be struggling. The figure that is being touted about for new players is £1.5 million. Now if you think we will succeed in replacing 9 decent players with a miserly £1.5 mill, then you are going to be very disapointed.
I am therfor predicting that a lot of reserve/youth will be brought forward, maybe 3 loanies...and maybe 2-3 new sign-ons total, and not very hot talent either. This to me is sounding like another season in the realms of the Championship wondering if we gonna survive or not. The board don't seem to be backing cash injections to the club. Think i'll go put polish my boots, can't be much worse then what they'll have this season, and i'll play for my supper.

Well £1.3m has or is coming in re. Green and McKenzie
£600k profit from the Jan 08 transfers. So thats £1.9m for a start!
Then theres the Earnshaw and Etuhu money that has been added to the transfer budget.
LOADS OF MONEY!
Then the owners of this entertainment business can contribute too.

I read all the NCFC forums (as I'm sure do a lot of others here) and have seen no mention of this supposed £1.5m transfer budget. Seems like a figure that the OP just plucked out of the air to spread more doom and gloom.....
