When I posted this afternoon straight after the news that Hucks had gone I mentioned that my biggest regret was that he and the fans were denied a mutual farewell.
I have since read a few comments on here and on the archant sites and feel the club has scored a massive own goal with their handling of this.
I do think some of the senior members of the NCISA should lobby the club for something to be done, like I suggested earlier maybe at the Spurs match.
The more you think about it it is quite wrong to list Huckerby in with a group of players who have not contributed to the canary cause in anyway as much as Darren.
I feel that this has been handled very badly, not in the fact he has been let go, that was always been a possible if not probrable outcome. No the problem is what valid reason did the board & manager have for not putting everyone in the picture before Sundays match ?
Also on Anglia Soccer Night last week Roeder said he would be talking to Hucks on Tuesaday of this week and gave the impression, certainly to me, that something could be worked out. If he knew then that Hucks was out why the secrecy ?
Despite the way I feel calls for "Roeder out" are ludicrous, the job he did keeping us up was stupendous. It was even better in the cold light of day, if we had known in late November that you would need 53 points to survive we really would have thought it was impossible.
The handling of this by the board or the manager has been poor but we must not have knee jerk reactions, the manager will live or die by his decisions, as he knows. But I do think the way this one has been dealt with will increase the pressure on him to get it right next season.
