1. Martin Paterson, we have been heavily linked with this player and a move wouldn't be a surprise. He has 13 league goals from open play and although that's not a great tally it's not to bad for a side in the bottom three.

2. Stern John, probably not the most popular player as he was part of Birmingham's play off team, but its hard to argue with 19 league goals. Again remember southampton haven't had the best of seasons. Judging by his effort at St mary's please no pens.

3. Kevin Phillips, I would think despite his age this would be a popular signing 22 league goals. His contract isn't sorted yet and has warned WBA that he may not be there next year. If KP wants to play on in championship he may turn to Norwich and Glenn Roeder to give something back for starting his pro career. It's a long shot, but never say never is football.

4. Kevin Lisbie, 17 league goals this season, not bad for the bottom club we know he is quick and tricky not someting we really have in our forwards this year. We had him on loan and may fancy another crack. Again surely he is worth checking out.

5. Frazier Campbell, ok this one is unlikely to happen as Hull will probably sign him, However Sir Alex may want to hold on to him and may not fancy having him on loan in the prem should Hull win promotion. He would be a good addition from what I have seen and should at least have a go if he is available for loan next year.

And for a player to get goals from midfield:

Surely, Brian Howard could do a job 13 goals from midfield isn't bad.

Not Lisbie please, I remember him from his loan spell. Cow's posterior and a banjo spring to mind.

Brian howard would be great to come to the club. Cant see this happening though because he loves barnsley, is captain and wants them to offer him a new contract..I think martin paterson will come to us next season so tht wouldnt suprise me. Him and wes hoolahan i think will end up coming here..Would love hume here aswell. A quick powerfull player like stern john or ricardo fuller type would be good also.

i think all of those players are fairly good targets.

Paterson i would go for if not too expensive. Lisbie i'm not very sure about.

I'm sure brian howard would look to the prem if he were to leave the tykes.

I was wondering about raziak the other day, he's on loan at bolton isn't he? he used to socre goals and is a target man, however i don't think he's scored this season, might be worth it if he were cheap though.

Personally i would look at league 1 for talent as it would be cheaper!.

I would be looking very heavily at Jermaine Beckford if Leeds don't come up - possibly if they do.

Stuart Fleetwood from forest green - not a great league but 32 goals and a £250 000 price tag sound attractive to me.

Zamora is wanted by a couple of prem clubs so wont be coming here.

Nardiello, had a really Barnesly, but i not really sure, maybe a trial would be a good idea.

I'd like to see thre or four strikers/attackers brought in. Mainly due to the fact there will be no more dion,or hucks, and curetons not getting any younger, and theres no certainty we'll get Evans back...

I'd like to see players from...Vokes,Paterson(Scunthorpe),Beckford(Leeds),Maynard(crewe),Riordan(celtic),Eddie Johnson(fulham). theres also Vela and Merida returning from loan spells, both would be qualoty loan signings. As well as getting Evans and or Rigters back.
