After more than a decade and nearly 200 games with Rochdale, 25-year-old Gilks made the switch to Norwich this summer on a Bosman-style free transfer. He came up through the ranks at Rochdale and was firmly in place as their number one until he decided not to take up their option of a new three-year deal. City moved in, and around two years after first showing an interest in Gilks, made him an offer. He is expected to battle Marshall for a first team place this season. Looks set to be number two to Marshall, although he is no mean keeper and will push the former Celtic man.
