Dion Dublin played 12 Combination games
(plus one Norfolk Senior Cup game) for Norwich City Reserves
in 1987-88, scoring four goals.
Every Norwich City fan breathed a sigh of relief when the
veteran striker confirmed that he will be staying at Carrow
Road for another season. Dublin's presence in the Canaries
dressing room was invaluable at times last season and was
the leader on the pitch that manager Peter Grant craved. It
is uncertain how many games the 38-year-old's legs will stand
up to but Dublin's contribution off the field is worth its
weight in gold. The experience he brought to the team was
clear last season. At 38 this will be his last season in professional
football – and it could be one that he and Grant have
agreed will be spent mainly as a sub. However, that was the
plan last season – and he started 22 league games.
