Last meeting: Hull
City 1, Norwich City 2 (April
6, 2007): Norwich City provided
their travelling fans with the
perfect response to their Layer
Road no-show with a fully-deserved
– if not completely tension-free
– victory at the KC Stadium.
A Darren Huckerby goal just
before half-time and a Dickson
Etuhu header soon after it gave
City the win after a performance
that was in stark contrast to
that of the 3-0 defeat at Colchester
the Saturday before . Hull will
point to the fact they hit the
woodwork three times –
but they never played well enough
to have three goals next to
their name.

Chances: An interesting
close season at the KC Stadium
with a buy-out and a couple
of audacious transfer attempts,
most notably Brazilian Juninho.
Manager Phil Brown endured a
difficult first season in charge
of the Tigers, relying on the
goals of 38-year-old Windass
to dig the side out of trouble
late on in the campaign. Brown
will be looking for a vast improvement
in home form after 12 defeats
last season. Speculation that
Brown was about to join Newcastle
United as Sam Allardyce's assistant
threaten to derail the Tigers’
preparations for the new season.
However, Brown has since committed
his future to the club and he
will be keen to avoid another
relegation battle at the KC
Stadium. The permanent signing
of veteran striker Dean Windass
from Bradford will give Hull
the firepower to compete in
the Championship while Bryan
Hughes could also be a useful
addition after signing from
Charlton.
