Last meeting: Norwich City 1, Coventry City 1 (February 24, 2007): Teenage striker Chris Martin rescued a point for Norwich City when he crowned a wholehearted performance with an excellent goal against Coventry City at Carrow Road. Martin produced a smart finish from Darren Huckerby’s cross 10 minutes from time to give the home crowd something to shout about after a largely forgettable performance from their side. The Sky Blues had taken the lead four minutes before the interval with a neat finish from Jay Tabb, rounding off a four-man move.

Last Norwich away win: 14/02/2004 Coventry 0, Norwich 2 (Holt, Brennan)

Chances: A difficult summer for Dowie off the pitch, and he will need to draw on his character to turn around the Sky Blues’ fortunes on it. City will be looking to achieve some sort of consistency and Dowie has gone back to old club Crystal Palace to nab Northern Irishman Hughes to add some midfield steel, but last season’s biggest problem was a lack of a goalscorer. Dowie has moved to strengthen the heart of his defence in the form of Arjan de Zeeuw and is now looking to put his own stamp on the Midlands side after replacing the sacked Micky Adams last season. Coventry certainly have the quality to challenge for a place in the top six and the fans will expect nothing less. Former Norwich City star Leon McKenzie will be looking to cement a place in Dowie's starting line-up after recovering from injury.
Prediction: 18th
