City 0 (April 17, 2007): Darren Huckerby
limped out of contention just minutes
before kick-off with a back problem.
An hour and a half later the injury
worries were joined by a defeat in
a match that had “end of the
season” written all over it
from a Canaries perspective. If there
are excuses it is the injury list,
which comprised 11 first-team squad
members – and four others out
on loan. 16-year-old Kris Renton made
his first start, alongside Chris Martin,
after his record-breaking appearance
at Leicester on Saturday, with fellow
teenager Patrick Bexfield, 18, promoted
to the bench, where he joined yet
another of the City kids, 17-year-old
Bally Smart.

Last Norwich
away win: 3/4/2004 Burnley
3 (Wood, May, Blake), Norwich 5 (Svensson
2, Huckerby 2, McKenzie)
Chances: Cotterill’s
men made a fine start to the season
but then lost their way completely
and only just recovered in time to
thwart a potential relegation battle.
Not much expected of them this time
around and a bad start could see the
fans’ patience wearing thin
with the manager. Another key season
for Akinbiyi, who is running out of
time to find a club to call home.
Andy Gray and Ade Akinbiyi are more
than capable of scoring goals in the
Championship while former Benfica
winger Alan Mahon will be supplying
the ammunition for the strikeforce.
Prediction: 15th
